Midnight at the Crossroads

Storm creates a wall of ice to buy you time to escape. Nightcrawler finds a special coin for you which you drop then amplify the sound – by accident you knock out your pursuers who collapse.

The men seem to be dead, but as you watch, the blood in their ears disappears and they begin to stir. You hide their guns and let them leave, with a warning to stay away from the diner. You find clothing more appropriate to the setting, and go to find Gambit.

When you head outside, you see someone get hit by a car, but when you head over to help, she gets back up as though nothing happened. Storm believes there's a shield on the civilians. Gambit contacts you from the Crossroads Cabaret, where he has spotted Mojo.

Storm and Nightcrawler point out Mojo and his sidekick Spiral, and tell you of chaos Mojo has caused. Mojo welcomes you to Noirville and says that he's shielded all the humans, and begs for ten minutes of your time.

Mojo explains that the audience trends have moved away from violence, hence the shielding. He needs better ratings and the X-Men are popular. If you can find the shield transmitter in town, you can keep it and use it to protect people from rogue mutants. Of course you aren't shielded. Where would the fun in that be?

Spiral comes to introduce herself but gets called away by Mojo. You fill Gambit in on what you've learned. Gambit is keeping an eye on the man from the diner, who says he's planning to rough up the waitress. You use your powers to try to track down the sound of the transmitter, and the sound leads you back to the diner.
