New In Town

You are escorted through the perimeter wall by drones and talk with Hassiba, one of the doctors, about the town. She tells you that the quarantine is required; ships that have arrived in the past have carried diseases like rabies, malaria, and even new strains of the zombie virus. The drones are also taking baseline fitness readings. You need to keep moving so you can be properly debriefed.

Janine has been sending Veronica messages in Morse Code. She's hacked the computer system and found you a way out, as well as blocking the drones' audio feed. Get ready to make a dash for it!

You've made it into the settlement proper, but Peter and Frances were spotted and have had to take a different route. The settlement is solar powered and Sam admires the buildings. Everyone has pagers to give them updates, including fugitive alerts. There's some police over there. Keep running!

You find some laundry bins and disguise yourself using the clothes. Veronica informs you that a while back some ships arrived carrying genetically modified animals that have thrived in the local environment. You spot Peter and Frances at the entrance to the settlement's underground water system. Sam feels bad about causing trouble to these people, but Janine says that you have to complete the mission.

You meet up with Peter at the entrance to the water system. Janine has gone ahead to scout exits. You head down, guided by Veronica. You spot grey beetles climbing out of the water. Veronica informs you that they are genetically modified isopods placed there by locals. They help keep the water clean by consuming most organic material. Unfortunately, that includes you.

Veronica says that you were spotted and the exits have been barricaded. However, if you jump over the barrier and into the water you can follow the tunnels up to the mountains. The locals have sent people after you and you'll have to keep ahead of the isopods. Run!

The isopods are gaining on you, but you're close to the exit. Peter is grabbed by one of the isopods and it chomps down on his leg. You tear it off, but the blood has excited the others. Keep going before they swarm!

You make it outside and climb out of the water. The isopods are huddled inside; the sunlight must hurt them. Peter pulls the isopod mandibles out of his leg, but notices there's a barcode and a symbol tattooed on them. He recognises the symbol from Van Ark's lab and Frances says that she's seen it on Dearg. Janine says that you'll have to continue on foot, and with Van Ark involved, your mission just became more vital.
