The Oubliette

Regin says he's finished repairing the mirror but he'll only let you use it when you reach the surface. The dwarves you pass seem to have been impressed by your work.

Regin says that you and Thor are welcome any time, but Loki should stay away. Loki uses the mirror to create a portal. You say farewell to Regin, and walk through it.

You arrive in Vanaheim and are immediately chased by an ogre. Get running!

Loki thinks the shift of the ley lines has thrown off your arrival point. Loki creates a new portal for you to use.

You have arrived in a forest made of mirrors. Loki is stunned and Thor carries him. Continue your training beginning with ten knee lifts. The crystal tree nearest you shakes its leaves.

Begin your slow walk towards that tree.

That tree seems to be upset by your walking.

Walk around the tree in a circle.

The tree has shattered! Avoid the shards.

Maybe if you destroy all the mirror trees you will help Loki.

You may be here a while. There are lots of trees.

Try circling in the other direction this time!

This tree also becomes angry enough to explode. Crush the remaining mirror shards.

Begin walking again. Try circling more than one tree at once.

The trees don't seem angry. Try the other direction.

Begin fast walking!

Loki is still no use. Continue with more knee lifts.

Thor has finished counting the trees. The technical term is "too bloody many".

You hear a strange sound.

Thor has found something that is invisible but solid, and not a mirror.

Do some knee lifts to see if they affect the invisible wall.

Follow the wall with your hand.

Thor has found a corner!

Maybe Thor will try using his hammer!

Something has happened!

Loki regains consciousness so your exercises must have done something. Loki decides to up the stakes. Begin running slowly!

Loki gives you instructions to set up a useful resonance.

Loki says that you're in an oubliette made by the Vanir. It reflects magic.

You need to crack the ward further.

You hear something rumbling. You might be getting somewhere!

Loki can feel the weakness of the wards.

Loki will not be joining you in running.

The trees here are not actually trees.

You hear something distantly.

Thor doubts that anything is happening.

You've escaped! In the distance you can see the City of the Great Light. Loki points out various ruins of Vanaheim which were destroyed by shadow nixes who dined on the energy of their machines...and their bodies. The Vanir now live low-technology lives, but their scrying is unparalleled. You should get moving.

As long as the Great Light shines the shadow nixes will not trouble you. Thor finds an adorable baby boar. Then the mother boar finds you.

You see horses ahead which flee from the boar. Loki and the park rangers tell Thor to put the piglet down but Thor refuses. Now the park rangers are chasing you too!

You're still being chased and now you're running through a farmer's market. Shame about the cabbage cart!

The gates are ahead. You pass through them and are greeted by Idunn, who stops you all in place, even the boar. Idunn has the park ranger take the piglet, and she will let you explain your tale.
