Training Mission 2

Amelia is dragging you out into meatspace despite the curfew. She got a message from her friend Nadia saying someone is trying to kill her. Amelia knows where her panic room is and has the codes. Run!

You enter the maintenance tunnels beneath the city. Amelia worries that the file you stole from Valmont was connected to what she was working on at Valtech – a cure for cyberdepression. But there were side-effects and Amelia tried to get Nadia to help with the project, only for Valmont to move her off the project. There's definitely someone in the tunnels with you. Get moving.

Janine talks to you over comms and asks why you didn't come to her. She asks you to come home. There's another noise in the tunnels. Janine spots them – they look like people but they're moving oddly. Keep moving.

They're still following you, and Amelia realises she's seen people like this before. It's like the effects of the anti-cyberdepressants but a hundred times worse. You briefly hear Nadia calling you.

Nadia admits she realised that Valmont had weaponised the anti-cyberdepressants and packaged it for the military. She'd been afraid that Amelia was involved so she told Artemus Thurman and was working on a cure in his labs. Amelia is angry but you have bigger problems right now.

You reach Nadia's building, but the number of the cyberzombies has grown. You're let into a building, and a resident goes to scare off the 'gang' only to be attacked and changed into one of them. It shouldn't be possible! It's a program, not a disease. You barricade the building and head to Nadia's panic room.

Nadia guides you to the panic room, but the zombies have broken into the building. You shut yourselves into the panic room and head to the video screens – Nadia says she's been locked into netspace somehow. When you find her, she is dead. Nadia says she remembers someone demanding access to her research. She uploaded a backup, which is presumably how she's talking to you now. She needs your help – Valtech's virus is loose in the city and only Nadia knows how to find and use the antidote. If you don't find it, every person in Net City will become a zombie.
