Soft Target

Tom takes you to the beach. On the way, he tells you about he and Janine's childhood with General Bakari. Janine is thinking about launching a full assault on the Laird, since it's likely he is the leader of the skincoats and he tells you that he thinks he needs to do more to help her. He says Shona is meeting you at the far end of the beach.

Using Shona's local knowledge, Tom wants to search the caves that honeycomb the cliffs all over the island. He thinks the skincoats might be using the caves, and that there might be a secret source of fungus down there. You'll have to move quickly to avoid getting caught in floods while you're down there.

Tom questions Shona about her father, explaining away the suspicious questions by saying the Laird reminds him of General Bakari. According to his map, you need to head east in the caves.

Tom reveals to Shona that Jones might not have killed her uncle, and tells her that he had something similar happen with Janine on their first covert mission. Shona thinks Tom is leading them on a very specific route, which he denies. She says they are coming up to a fork, where one tunnel leads to the surface and the other leads deeper, but she doesn't remember which is which. You split up; Shona and Tom take the right cave, you take the left.

Tom and Shona emerge near where they first ever met. She says that there's something around the corner that might get Tom's gears turning, and he agrees to go. He hears over comms that there's a zombie growl in the cave near you, and you need to run to evade it.

Tom and Shona arrive at the spot where they met, and he reveals that he thought Shona was sent by her father to kill Jones. He realised, when you first met her, she was coming from the wrong direction, and that Jones might've let her get close enough to kill the decoy. But now he's timed it, he doesn't think the theory holds. Shona says she wasn't working for her dad, but for someone else entirely and she'll take Tom to meet her. He urges you to get out of the caves as quickly as possible.

Shona takes Tom to the ruins of Gaisgeach Village, into a den there. She shows him the Edda, as well as a pot of red fungus surrounded by silver dust. She tells him that the fungus is her leader. She takes a pinch of red and silver every day, and it makes her very fast. Tom tries to shoot her, but she's too quick, and after a struggle, she kills him. She puts on his headset and tells you that the island belongs to her and you'll never get out alive.
